Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Family Wayfinder handles information through this website, its support form, and the Android service when it becomes available.

Effective August 25, 2026Version 2026-08-25-prelaunch

1. Scope and adult use

Family Wayfinder is designed for adults aged 18 or older. Adults may install it on a device used by a family member only when they have the legal authority and valid consent required for that device and location sharing. It is not directed to children as account holders.

2. Information we may process

Account and circle data

Email address, authentication identifiers, display name, adult-confirmation record, Family Circle membership, invitations, roles, preferences, and device registration information.

Location and safety data

Location coordinates, accuracy, timestamps, battery/status signals, Safe Places, arrival/departure events, route samples, trip summaries, check-ins, Journey Guardian sessions, SOS events, and diagnostics needed to provide and troubleshoot the service.

Support data

When you contact support, we process the reply email, optional name, selected topic, message, consent record, security tokens, and limited connection data used for fraud and rate-limit protection.

3. Why we use information

  • Provide private family location, journey, place, check-in, notification, and emergency-alert features.
  • Authenticate accounts, synchronize Family Circles, prevent abuse, diagnose reliability, and secure the service.
  • Answer support, privacy, and deletion requests.
  • Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms.

4. Sharing and processors

Information is shared with participating members of the same Family Circle according to product controls. We may use service providers for hosting, authentication, databases, messaging, maps, email delivery, and anti-abuse protection. These providers process data to perform their contracted functions. We do not sell personal information or location history.

5. Retention and deletion

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the service, security, legal obligations, or an active support request. Product controls may allow history deletion. Account deletion is designed to remove or de-identify account-linked service data, subject to necessary security, legal, backup, and fraud-prevention retention.

6. Your choices

You can manage permissions in Android, pause continuous sharing, change notification preferences, clear supported history, export supported account data, leave a Family Circle, and request account deletion. Disabling permissions can make core functions unavailable or delayed.

7. Security and limitations

We use access controls, encrypted transport, platform security, and operational safeguards. No system can guarantee absolute security. Location and alerts can be delayed by device, signal, battery, permission, manufacturer, network, or platform conditions.

8. Privacy requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal data, and to object or complain to a regulator. Use the protected support form. We may verify identity and authority before acting.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service, law, or providers change. A new effective date and version will be published here. Contact us through the support form.
